UK Games Expo
Event website :
The UK Games Expo – sometimes abbreviated to UKGE – has been growing the tabletop games and hobby games sector in the UK since its inauguration in 2007. The international trade fair and convention currently ranks as the largest Hobby Games Convention in the UK and is the premier avenue for publishers to showcase their latest games and meet with their target audience.
It’s all about keeping things fun and gathering real-time feedback from end consumers. The products on display run the entire spectrum of tabletop games – board games, roleplaying games, card games, dice games and live action role-play. The tabletop industry has seen a revival in the past decade and the UKGE is a unifying point for the professional community. But UK Games Expo is much more than a marketplace for companies to move product. It’s a place for families with children to spend quality time and for players to enter tournaments and competitions.
The UK Games Expo is an annual event that is based in Birmingham, UK and usually runs during the last weekend of May or the first week of June – right at the start of summer. The location for the event is the NEC in Birmingham and doors are open to everyone from professionals to children for a total of three days. Opening hours are from 09:30 am in the morning until 18:00 pm in the afternoon during the first two days, and until 16:00 pm on the last day.
The UK Games Expo Ltd is the official organiser. Now let’s talk about transportation. The NEC enjoy a great access to the local infrastructure with Birmingham International Railway Station adjacent to the show grounds. There is also a free air-rail link from Birmingham Airport to the NEC and there are several bus lines that service the exhibition centre.
What You Can Expect as an Exhibitor
- The UK Games Expo allows you to tap into important demographics for your business – both serious players who partake in tournaments, game enthusiasts, games shops and the casual gamer. Given the profile of the event, you’re able to boost visibility for your brand and generate sales leads at the exhibition area;
- The UK Games Expo supports indie creators and inexperienced game designers to receive valuable feedback and receive attention from game publishers. How does this happen? They sign up for the Playtest Zone, where designers book playtest slows and showcase new games for the public to test;
- The UK Games Expo is also a venue to seek out professional validation and publicity in a big way through partaking in the UK Games Expo Awards, which have been running since the fair was first founded. The Awards have multiple categories for different game formats and in addition to Judges Awards there’s also a People’s Choice Award.
