COVID-19 infection rates and safety concerns have led to the cancellation of Musikmesse 2021. The new plan is to hold the live music fair in tandem with Prolight + Sound 2022. There are no announcements on the dates other than the fact the event will run sometime during April 2022 at Messe Frankfurt. The exhibition grounds will follow the latest and best safety measures.

Musikmesse concerns itself with the rapid changes in music production and the music industry as a whole that includes not just instruments, software and technique, but also emerging business models. The international trade fair is a fusion between a festival that celebrates music and a purely sales-oriented platform that introduces supply with demand. The program enables artists, decision makers and producers to network in hopes of future collaboration and visitors can also attend many informative workshops and seminars. Musikmesse has a history of nearly 4 decades first launching in 1980 and in that time span has rose in significance to shape the sound and markets in Europe. The product portfolio extends to stringed instruments, percussion instruments, DJ equipment, plucked instruments, recording hardware, synthesizers, digital pianos, sheet music and recording software.

Musikmesse marks the beginning of spring in Frankfurt, Germany as the trade fair and festival arrives usually at the start of April without fault. Each edition runs for four days and is based in Messe Frankfurt with certain events spread around the city. Messe Frankfurt is also the official organiser of the event and stages it alongside the related Prolight + Sound. Admission is given to both trade visitors and the general public. Working hours are from 10:00 am in the morning until 18:00 pm in the afternoon. If you’re wondering how to commute to Messe Frankfurt without a car, then you’re in for an abundant choice in public transport. Either you can catch the metro line 4, or use the 16 & 17 tram lines, or make do with the S3, S4 & S6 suburban train lines.

What Are People Saying?

 “We were very busy and are satisfied with the course of business at the fair. We made many high-grade contacts and met customers not only from Europe but also from China, Korea and Japan. Moreover, we were very pleased with the great media reach to our 100th anniversary,” - Ralph Voggenreiter, Co-CEO of Voggenreiter Verlag GmbH;

“We see this as a great opportunity to promote a brand and have already developed initial ideas on how we can get involved in next year’s event programme. To take part in this year’s Musikmesse was the right decision. The fair is very important as the European meeting place – thanks, too, to Frankfurt’s central location on the continent,” - Alessio Gerundini, CEO of Zero Sette;

“The fair was the perfect context for this meeting of minds - and such an incredibly well-organised, professional event. MTF Frankfurt was hosted with such care, warmth and attention to detail. We are looking forward to developing this relationship further,” - Andrew Dubber, Director of the Music Tech Fest.
