Introduction

Year after year, the fields of medicine, electromedicine and laboratory equipment see fast-paced innovation and development. If you want to keep up with it all and find better footing in the industry, head to MEDICA – a major international trade fair that is rightly defined as the heart of the medical industry in the world.

The inaugural edition was held back in 1969 and since then it’s been at MEDICA that some of the biggest partnerships have formed, the biggest innovations announce and the most important news shared. It’s also consistently opened itself from covering only the German market to include the entire world.

The product portfolio extends to medical technology, diagnostic tests, orthopedic technology, information and communication technology, joint stands, and commodities and consumer goods.

Aside from the pure B2B aspects of the fair, MEDICA is also an education platform that runs conferences and forums like MEDICA HEALTH IT FORUM and the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM.

Logistics

MEDICA is based in Dusseldorf, Germany and arrives at Messe Dusseldorf every November. The trade fair runs for a total of four days and is open to only trade visitors. Messe Düsseldorf GmbH performs the dual function of an exhibitor and venue.

Working hours are set from 10:00 am in the morning until 18:00 pm in the afternoon. As with most exhibition centres in Germany, commuting to Messe Dusseldorf is effortless, especially if you’re renting a car during the stay. The airport also runs regular shuttle buses.

If you’re located in the city centre, then you have two tram lines at your disposal - U78 and U79 – and bus line 722, which are frequent enough to reduce your commute significantly.

What Are People Saying?

“Our robot-assisted assistance systems allow the surgeon to perform minimally invasive, highly precise operations while reducing the strain on medical personnel to the greatest extent possible. We are interested in B2B relationships. The success of our MEDICA contacts can therefore only be assessed in an interval of one to two years,”

- Robert Geiger, Managing Director of Aktormed;

“The new concept is confirmed by the consistently high number of visitors in the halls. The MEDICA HEALTH IT FORUM and the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM were real hotspots, with high attendance on all days & a total of more than 10,000 visitors”,

- Horst Giesen, Global Portfolio Director for Health & Medical Technologies at Messe Düsseldorf;

“MEDICA is not only the most important event of the year for many of our members from the medical technology sector. With its many visitors and exhibitors, it is also the world’s leading trade fair for the industry”,

- Jörg Mayer, Executive Director of the German industry association SPECTARIS.
