Update for OTWorld 2024
The 2024 edition of OTWorld will take place as an in-person event. The 2024 edition is set to take place from May 14th to May 17th, 2024. Messe Leipzig will be the host location for the live event. Germany currently does not domestic Covid-19 safeguards in place, due to their removal in April 2022 after extensive discussions. Participants will, however, be encouraged to follow a number of guidelines. These will entail maintaining a social distance of 1.5 metres and practising proper hand hygiene on a daily basis. Due to the imposed travel restrictions, attendees will be required to present documentation such as proof of recovery upon arrival in the country.
OTWorld has been in operation since 1973 and quickly became the go-to international trade fair, which covered innovations and research into treatments and care using modern orthopaedic aids and rehabilitation technology. Currently, it’s rated as the world’s largest and certainly the most important for the sector as a whole, drawing in experts, doctors and research in great numbers out to Leipzig. In its exhibition halls, one can experience the full breadth of products and solutions – orthopaedics, rehabilitation, equipment for medical services, shop fittings, orthopaedic footwear technology, podiatry, compression therapy, prosthetics, raw materials, healthcare supplies, initial and advanced training and more. Of course, it’s not just the products, but also the expertise at the congress that make OTWorld so important. It’s now even touching special care aspects during the pandemic.
OTWorld is the joined venture of confairmed Gesellschaft für Congressmanagement and Messe Leipzig. This major international trade fair occurs once every two years in Leipzig, Germany and editions are often scheduled for early May. Proceedings run out of Messe Leipzig for a total of four days and admissions are open only to professionals in the rehabilitation industry. Working hours are usually from 09:00 am in the morning until 18:00 pm in the afternoon, but be sure to get a confirmation closer to the dates. Messe Leipzig has good public transport service, which means you can reach the exhibition grounds in a number of ways. You can catch tram line 16 in the city centre for a scenic commute. Another option is to turn to the regional train (RB) or suburban train (S-Bahn). The S-Bahn even has a line going to Leipzig/-Halle Airport.
What Are People Saying
• “As the world's leading event this year, OTWorld has once again shown that the entire industry meets in Leipzig. Groundbreaking world premieres, digitalisation and modern technologies inspired the visitors,” – Martin Buhl-Wagner, Chief Executive Officer of Messe Leipzig;
• “OTWorld is an overall work of art. Experts from all over the world gather here for four days to improve the global supply of medical aids. I am particularly pleased that at this OTWorld it became clear what is at the heart of our work: people. This is why we learn our trade, train ourselves and exchange ideas with colleagues of all professions,” – Klaus-Jürgen Lotz, President of BIV-OT;
• “OTWorld is an excellent platform for a collegial exchange of ideas. The integration of the congress centre into the trade exhibition not only ensures short distances - this exemplary concept creates a relaxed atmosphere for meeting experts on a professional level in order to work together in a concentrated and friendly manner,” – Prof. Dr. Volker Bühren, Congress President
