BIEMH & COVID

BIEMH 2022 is going to be the long-awaited return of the international trade fair for machine tools in Bilbao, Spain. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 edition was cancelled and now it’s been four years since the regional community has had a chance to meet in person. There’s excitement in the air as the dates June 13th – June 17th approach. Organisers promise that everything will go as planned at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre. They’ve created a safe fair concept, which takes the wellbeing of all attendees seriously. The most comprehensive COVID-19 protective measures are put in place from stronger sanitation protocols to better ventilation and mandatory masking.

Introduction

Established in 1961, BIEMH has proven itself to be one of the central trade fairs for the machine tools industry. Over the decades it’s become a true benchmark with a global significance. The fair is a bright stage where some of the biggest companies present ground-breaking technologies and visitors can see how the latest advances can be applied to their equipment and services. The list of machinery and equipment features - metal cutting machine-tools; metrology; product development and manufacturing software; automation of processes; handling; robotics; welding and chemical products.

Logistics

BIEMH is about to hold its 31st edition in Bilbao, Spain and programming will run for five full days in the middle of June. The international trade fair is traditionally held in mid- to late May, but the pandemic has made some changes. In Bilbao, there’s Line 3136 Bizkaibus and metro line 2 from the “Ansio” station, which takes you directly to the exhibition centre.

What Are People Saying?

• “We are encouraged by the reactivation of the sector in Europe, which means that the fair will be more technological and innovative. We are distributors of Spanish, Italian and Turkish companies of cutting and forming metalworking machinery and we are very interested in exploring the possibilities offered by additive manufacturing,” - Rosario Soto, President of DISMA;

• “We came to offer multi-process continuous 5-axis technology under the supervision of Industry 4.0,” - Mikel Almandoz, Commercial Manager of IBARMIA;

• “We are going to invest in new machines and we are interested in buying equipment, so our visit to BIEMH is very interesting. It is the first time we come to the fair, and our first impression – mine and that of other American delegates – is very positive, both from the aspect of the organisation and the exhibition. The equipment’s offers has a very high quality,” - Blaine Young, Tooling Coordinator at SPX Process Equipment (United States)
