IFAT follows a biennial schedule in Munich, Germany, where editions fall on even years. Editions run for five days during springtime, most often around May. Messe Munich performs the dual duty of the official organiser and host venue.
IFAT admits only industry insiders and working hours are from 09:00 am until 18:00 pm, whereas the last day wraps up two hours earlier at 16:00 pm.
As with all exhibition centres in Germany, Messe Munich is fully integrated into the city’s infrastructure with excellent connections to motorways, making a drive to the grounds simple and efficient. If you’re relying on public transport, then you can use the U2 metro line or the several suburban train lines.
As we have mentioned, IFAT is heavily visited, but how does that translate into numbers. In terms of exhibitors, there are over 3300 international exhibitors confirmed to have showcased last time, and the audience exceeded 142,000 trade visitors as a whole. That’s definitely a sizeable platform to expose your products to and build professional relationships with.
One of the reasons for this continued to growth is the support IFAT receives from top industry associations and unions within Germany – BDE, DVGW, DWA, VAK, VDMA and VKU. Professional visitors come from many professional backgrounds – industry & manufacturing, municipal & private utilities and waste management organizations, engineering offices & consultants, universities, trade, vocational schools & research institutions.
If we’re to break down attendance by country, we see countries like Italy, China, Turkey, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Austria, Israel and Spain take the leads in terms of numbers of visitors.
IFAT 2022
IFAT 2022 celebrated the successful relaunch of the trade exhibition. It was held in a hybrid format at Messe Munich between 30.05.2022 and 03.06.2022. There were 2,984 exhibiting companies from 59 countries, 50 start-up enterprises, more than 300 speakers, and over 119,000 trade visitors from 155 nations. The event took up a total of 260,000 square metres of event space.
IFAT 2024
The 2024 edition of IFAT took place as a live trade fair in Messe Munich between 13.05.2024 and 17.05.2024. The event was attended by over 3,200 exhibitors from 61 countries, with 55% from abroad. They presented their wares on 300,000 m2 of event space to around 142,000 visitors from approximately 170 nations.
