ILMAC is organized once every two years in tandem with MUT (Messe für Umwelttechnik) and editions are held typically in September. ILMAC is put together by the MCH Messe Schweiz (Basel) AG. The international trade show runs for three days at Messe Basel in Basel, Switzerland. Doors are open to trade visitors. Working hours are set for 09:00 in the morning until 17:00 in the late afternoon. The only exception is the second day, which continues until 18:30. How do you get to the exhibition centre, if you’re not driving? Easy. Messe Basel has a convenient location in the city and is served by three tram lines (No. 1, 2 and 6). EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg sits 15 minutes away by car and the No. 50 bus takes you to the exhibition centre. What’s better – visitors get a BaselCard, which gives them free access to public transport until the end of their stay no matter where they want to go.
- The ILMAC FORUM – a forum without comparison. The forum is one of the reasons for the success of ILMAC in the first place as it brings in unquestionable talent and big names from the field of chemicals and life sciences. Every edition keeps you on the cutting edge of trends and active research done at the moment.
- Special attention is given to the pharmaceutical sector as the chemicals sector has the most application to do with pharmaceuticals. Now there’s the Pharma Logistics Days heading to the stage for the second time. So far, it’s proven to be an effective way to help supply meet demand without any difficulty.
- A better way to position your products overall. ILMAC gives visitors a more hands-on look at how new innovations and technological applications are put to good use. All this is done at the Maintenance Excellence Arena.
As we’ve mentioned, ILMAC is successful without being overwhelming to the visitor. How does that look in numbers? Last edition registered booths from 250 exhibitors and a total attendance number of 7000 trade visitors. The majority of visitors were from Switzerland and other countries in the European Union like Germany, Italy, Sweden, France, Spain, Portugal and Norway. There’s also a growing number of visitors flying in from as far as China and the USA. The audience is different, because you have owners and managers, but also technical visitors who want to seek out new career opportunities. ILMAC runs as a successful job fair that connects companies with could-be future employees.
ILMAC 2021
The 2021 edition of ILMAC occurred from October 19th to October 21st, 2021, and was held as a hybrid event. A traditional face-to-face exhibition, as well as a digital trade show, were featured as part of the edition. The face-to-face aspect took place at Messe Basel. The hosting venue was equipped with strict Covid-19 prevention measures. Among the precautions taken were social distancing and the 3G entry policy. Between participants, a social distance of 1.5 meters had to be maintained at all times. The hybrid event featured over 7000 attendees. This included 250 exhibitors.
ILMAC 2023
ILMAC's 2023 edition took place as a live trade fair in Messe Basel between 26.09.2023 and 28.09.2023. The hosting location did not feature Covid-19 safety measures. This is due to the removal of the country's pandemic-related restrictions. Over 340 exhibitors from 23 countries and 10,000 visitors attended the edition.
