AUTOMOBIL 2023 has been cancelled. The event will take place in 2024 at undetermined for the time-being dates in Messe Freiburg. The hosting location will not put in place strict COVID-19 prevention measures due to the Bundestag removing the country's pandemic-related restrictions.

Introduction 

Established in 1986, AUTOMOBIL is a popular sales fair aimed at direct purchases. Customers come to interact with car dealerships to shop for their next vehicle. The trade fair is often compared to IAA (even called the small IAA), which is the automotive trade fair that services the industry as a whole and is meant for B2B networking. AUTOMOBIL has every type of vehicle, from sports cars, alternative drives and refined luxury cars to off-road vehicles, motorsport and vintage cars.

AUTOMOBIL is brought to you by Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG with the general support and sponsorship of Interessengemeinschaft Freiburger Autohäuser. The popular trade fair occupies a key spot in the event programme of Freiburg, Germany, and editions arrive at Messe Freiburg every February for three days. Doors are open for everyone and pets are also allowed on the premises. Work hours for opening day are set for 12:00 at noon until 20:00 in the evening. Second day runs from 10:00 until 20:00. Closing day begins at 10:00 and ends at 18:00 in the afternoon. There are a lot of ways to get to Messe Freiburg as it’s in a great location and has an excellent public location. The most reliable is tram line 4, but you can also grab the Breisgau S-Bahn from the central train station. You’ll be there in no time!

Audience & Statistics 

AUTOMOBIL targets the local consumer market, which is why you have mostly local visitors in need of a new set of wheels. Last edition registered over 14,000 visitors altogether, who surveyed 300 new vehicles from 37 brands from 12 countries. It’s open for children the age of 4 and up, which opens up free time for parents to research vehicles and even take cars for a spin. Teenagers close to the driving age can participate in the on-site driving school that provides test-driving lessons. The driving school is also open to experienced drivers who want to try out driving, manoeuvring, and parking with a trailer.
