Editions take place every single years and Bologna Fiere performs the dual role as the organiser and also the host with a program that spans four days early in spring. Trade visitors can enter the halls from 09:00 am until 18:30 pm. The only exception is the last day, which closes early – 15:00 pm.

Bologna Children's Book Fair 2022
BCBF's 2022 edition was hosted as a physical or face-to-face trade fair between the dates 21.03.2022 and 24.03.2022. The hosting location of the event was the Bologna Fiere in Bologna, Italy. The event received 1,070 exhibiting companies, 21,432 trade visitors and more than 300 journalists. To ensure their safety due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the venue included safety measures such as the social distance protocol.
Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2023
BCBF's 2023 rendition also occurred as a hybrid trade fair. The live aspect took place in Fiera Bologna. It did not include Covid-19 safety measures due to the removal of the country's pandemic-related restrictions. The edition featured 1,456 exhibitors from around 90 countries, more than 750 journalists from 33 nations (33% from abroad), and 28,894 visitors. This marked a 35% participation rate increase compared to 2022. BCBF 2023's complementary platform received 2 million views. It was also attended by 800 illustrator specialists from 70 countries and 200 000 attendees, 60% of whom were from abroad. The event furthermore featured a high social media presence as it received 80,000 Facebook, 10,000 LinkedIn, and 90,000 Instagram followers.

Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2024 was a live trade fair hosted in Fiera Bologna between 08.04.2024 and 11.04.2024. It featured over 1,500 exhibitors from around 100 countries. Their wares were overviewed by more than 31,700 visitors from over 190 nations.
