The rubber industry is foundational to Hannover’s economy and very identity going back over 130 years. We’re talking about TROESTER, a family-run, internationally active company that has consistently adapted to the changing demands of the rubber processing sector since its very inception. TROESTER's story began in 1892, when engineer Paul Troester recognized the potential of the rubber industry in the Hannover region. At a time when the area was becoming a hub for rubber production, driven by the increasing demand for rubber goods and tires, Troester's vision was to create specialized machinery for this growing market. His ideas, however, were not initially welcomed by his colleagues at Eisenwerk Wülfel. Undeterred, Troester set out to establish his own company, and this bold move laid the foundation for what would become a global leader in its field. Over the years, TROESTER has evolved from a traditional mechanical engineering company into a comprehensive system provider. This transformation involved integrating sophisticated control units and electronics into its highly modern systems. The company's commitment to research and development has been paramount to its success. TROESTER invests approximately two percent of its annual turnover in research and development. It’s this continuous reinvestment in its own capabilities is what elevated it to the top of the food chain in Hannover’s rubber industry as you can see in the company's numerous patents and its ongoing research efforts, which extend beyond customer projects. The company also maintains strong ties with universities across Germany and institutions like the German Institute of Rubber Technology in Hannover. The company’s reputation for quality German workmanship has propelled its global reach. Prior to the turn of the millennium, over 70% of TROESTER's products were exported overseas. This international presence was further solidified with the establishment of the US subsidiary, TROESTER Machinery, Ltd., in Akron, Ohio, in 1995.
