Hannover’s industry surrounding horses revolves around one single event - Pferd & Jagd, one of Germany's largest equestrian and hunting fairs. The 2023 was a record breaker on all accounts as over 67,000 visitors made it to the exhibition grounds, where they explored the latest trends and innovations from 700 exhibitors spanning both the equestrian and hunting industries. The event showcased a wide range of products, services, and activities that catered to professionals and enthusiasts alike. It also highlighted sustainability in equestrianism and hunting, with the ""Green Evening"" marking the opening of the fair. Here, key representatives from the German Hunting Association, Pferdeland Niedersachsen GmbH, and Niedersächsische Landesforsten discussed sustainable land use, focusing on the balance between forest conservation and equestrian activities. Lower Saxony's Minister of Agriculture, Miriam Staudte, was among the notable attendees, lending additional weight to conversation surrounding environmental stewardship. Among the highlights was the ""Night of the Horses"", an equestrian spectacle that was sold out on both evenings. This show captivated audiences with breathtaking performances from riders and acrobats, showcasing the grace, agility, and strength of horses. For younger audiences and families, the MiMaMo show was a big hit, also playing to sold-out crowds. MiMaMo featured performances by young talents and up-and-coming equestrian stars. In addition to the equestrian displays, Pferd & Jagd introduced several new elements this year, reflecting the fair's growing reputation as an experience-driven event and cementing the equine industry in Hannover as a hub within Germany. The ""Hubertus Arena"" offered daily discussions on hunting-related topics, attracting significant attention from attendees interested in the future of sustainable hunting practices. Furthermore, the game kitchen, led by renowned TV chef Rainer Sass, allowed visitors to experience hands-on culinary demonstrations, with a focus on wild game recipes—one of the many ways the event is blending lifestyle elements with traditional equine and hunting pursuits.
