Monaco-Ville remains the beating heart of the country’s yachting industry. It’s a hub for business and innovation and nowhere is this most apparent than at the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) – a trade show that’s left its mark in the global yachting landscape. The culmination of the 2023 edition sparked widespread enthusiasm among stakeholders in the yachting sector. Held in late September, the MYS broke headlines and generated incredible sales with some of the biggest deals ever struck anywhere in the world. With a robust exhibition featuring 565 exhibitors and a fleet of 117 superyachts, the MYS 2023 witnessed a spike in attendance from potential clients. The overall turnout amounted to 27,223 people, out of which 11,634 private visitors. This uptick in participation reinforced the industry’s recent pivot towards more responsible navigation practices with sustainability emerging as a central theme. The spotlight on sustainability permeated every aspect of the event, garnering attention from media, visitors, and exhibitors alike. At the opening conference, efforts were made to dispel misconceptions surrounding yachting’s impact on marine pollution and stressed upon the fact that the industry’s contribution stands at a mere 0.3%. While acknowledging this figure as progress, stakeholders reiterated their intention to further reduce environmental footprints through investments in sustainable solutions for cleaner navigation. Central to this movement was the Sustainability Hub, a pivotal space within the MYS dedicated to promoting environmentally friendly practices and showcasing clean energy solutions. In collaboration with the Water Revolution Foundation, the hub served as an incubator for companies specializing in eco-friendly innovations with Siemens Energy's sponsorship notably contributing to advancements in sustainable energy management systems and alternative fuels. The dedication to ecological preservation was palpable among exhibitors, which showcased green initiatives on their stands and participated in the many roundtable sessions scheduled during the MYS.
