Index enjoys the reputation as the world’s leading event for the nonwovens' industry, and that has certainly been true ever since the international trade fair was introduced in 1973. In the near half a century, INDEX has managed to push the standards for manufacturing and has been the platform where the newest innovations and research are presented. Highly regarded and always anticipated, INDEX arrives in Geneva, Switzerland every three years and editions takes place at the start of spring. This would usually mean at the end of March or the beginning of April, and an edition would last for four days.
Palexpo in Geneva performs the double function of official organiser and host, and admittance is given only to professional visitors. The working hours are from 09:00 am until 6:00 pm except for the last day, which wraps up two hours earlier. Palexpo neighbours the Geneva Airport, so you can walk directly once you’ve landed, though there are bus lines, tram lines and train service to get you to the exhibition grounds and the city.
EDANA, the world’s leading association for the nonwoven industry, is an official sponsor and partner of INDEX, which has helped the event gain popularity and large turnout every edition. The latest data reveals that there were products from 660 exhibitors for the last edition to an audience that consisted of more than 12,000 international professionals.
The exceptional product variety is a magnet for visitors from all major sectors – filtration; geotextiles and civil engineering; hygiene and cleaning; medical infection prevention; transportation and packaging. Near 100% of visitors are satisfied with INDEX in terms of meeting their business goals, and roughly 70% are employed in senior roles that have serious decision-making powers.
Another attractive statistic concerns the reason for attendance – 90% of all polled states seeking new suppliers as their top reason for attending the trade fair.

Index 2021
Palexpo hosted the first hybrid edition of INDEX between 19.11.2021 and 22.11.2021. Over 500 exhibitors and over 9,300 visitors attended the edition. This included over 1000 attendees who used the event's digital platform.
Index 2023
Index's 2023 edition featured 610 exhibitors from 43 countries and 12,017 visitors from more than 100 nations on over 50,000 m2. The edition took place between 18.04.2023 and 21.04.2023 in Palexpo without implemented Covid-19 safety measures. This was because Switzerland removed its pandemic-related restrictions.
