INTERSOLAR EUROPE offers a full look into the future of the solar industry and environmental protection. The international exhibition is the biggest platform for companies to debut innovative, groundbreaking technologies and solutions as well as conduct high-level business negotiations.
The product portfolio has grown to include photovoltaics, PV production technologies, energy storage systems, solar power plants, solar thermal technologies and renewable heating.
Editions have been running successfully since 1991 in Pforzheim, just as the solar industry was picking up steam. The turnover has been so great that organisers have introduced satellite events to São Paulo, San Francisco, Mumbai, and Beijing. INTERSOLAR EUROPE also conducts important and often difficult conversations about subjects like climate change. Last edition discussed the concerns re climate change and electricity shortage.

INTERSOLAR EUROPE happens every year at the start of summer in Munich, Germany. Editions run for a total of three days sometime in June and shares the stage with automatica – the trade fair dedicated to automation and robotics. Solar Promotion GmbH and Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co. KG are joint organisers of the international exhibition, which takes place at Messe Munich.
Doors open only to professional visitors and working hours are from 09:00 am until 18:00 pm. The last day wraps up only an hour earlier at 17:00 pm. Messe Munich has numerous connections to the city’s infrastructure, and the centre offers a lot of parking spaces for commuters. In terms of public transport, you can choose between a metro line and suburban trains.
INTERSOLAR EUROPE enjoys the support and sponsorship of several German and European associations and organisations in the field, which guarantee a high turnover of visitors from every level in the industry. The most notable sponsors include EPIA (European Photovoltaic Industry Association), ESTIF (European Photovoltaic Industry Association) and ISES (International Solar Energy Society).
Last edition saw 1000 international exhibitors and over 50,000 professionals in attendance, which is a great indication as to how your visit is going to go. If we’re to break down the audience in terms of professional background, we see a great variety with architects, installers, energy consultants, utilities, integrators, distributors, investors and analysts. But that’s only the industry professionals. On a higher level you have energy planner, decision makers and a strong government representation from officials.
Intersolar Europe 2021
The 2021 rendition of Intersolar Europe was part of the Smarter E Europe Restart's support programme. It coincided with the hosting of 3 other related fairs. These were ees Europe, Power2Drive Europe and EM-Power Europe. The format of the 4 fairs was compact face-to-face exhibitions. All 4 of the trade show featured strict COVID-19 safety protocols. The Smarter E Europe Restart marked the successful restart of the solar industry. Smarter E Europe Restart received around 26,000 visitors and more than 450 exhibitors. Participants at the fair represented a total of 93 countries. This included nations such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and China. Smarter E Europe Restart took place at Messe Munich between 6.10.2021 and 8.10.2021. Following the success of the edition, organisers announced that they will proceed with the organisation of the 2022 edition of Smarter E Europe.
Intersolar Europe 2022
The 2022 edition of Smarter E Europe occurred between 11.05.2022 and 13.05.2022. It was hosted as a face-to-face event at Messe Munich, without Covid-19 limitations in place because of their removal in April 2022. The number of participants increased by 33% for this edition. On 132,000 m2, there were 1,356 exhibitors from 46 nations. Over 65,000 visitors from 149 countries reviewed the presented solutions.
Intersolar Europe 2023
Smarter E Europe (including Intersolar Europe and electrical energy storage Europe) took place as a live trade fair in Messe Munich between 14.06.2023 and 16.06.2023. The event occurred on 180,000 m3 of event space and featured over 11 400 participants. This included over 106,000 visitors from 166 countries, more than 2,400 exhibitors from 57 nations and more than 2,000 conference attendees. This signified a new participation record for Smarter E Europe and its incorporated trade fairs.
Intersolar Europe 2024
Smarter E Europe 2024 (including Intersolar Europe and electrical energy storage Europe) took place between 19.06.2024 and 21.06.2024. The event was attended by over 3,000 exhibitors from 55 countries, around 110,000 visitors from 176 nations, and more than 2,500 conference and side event participants.
