NEWCAST is just one event under the greater GMTN umbrella, which is the co-location of four big events for the foundry, casting and metalworking sector: GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS and NEWCAST. All four are planned, organised by and hosted at Messe Dusseldorf. Editions are spaced out every four years and usually span a period of five days at the end of June. Admission is given only to trade visitors and experts and working hours are as follows – the first four days operate from 09:00 am in the morning until 18:00 pm in the afternoon. The last day wraps up two hours earlier at 16:00 pm in the afternoon. If you’ve decided to rely on public transportation to do your daily commute, you’ll be happy to know there is a shuttle bus service from the airport as well as trams (U78 and U79) and a bus (722) that regularly stop there.
What Are People Saying?
“The name change brings us new energy and radiance, as we want to show at NEWCAST. Our core business is the production of parts for vertical milling, which is a niche. But our unique selling point is in the fact that we process the material ceramics during casting. That has a high effect on efficiency and sustainability,” said Giuseppe Grasso, Managing Director, Vulcast, Messancy, Belgique;
“Many interested parties come to us with special tasks, so we can tell exactly which company has a tailor-made solution for them. So the GMTN is for us so important, because many companies show their innovations for the first time here in Düsseldorf.,” said Marina Giacopinelli, Managing Director, Fundigex Casting & Foundry Suppliers from Spain, Leioa, Spain;
“For us, it is the most important trade fair. Like every year, we want to inform ourselves about innovations and cultivate our business contacts. This year, our team focuses primarily on environmental issues, energy efficiency and sustainability,” said Edith Weiser, Manager Foundry, Eirich Maschinenfabrik Gustav Eirich GmbH & Co KG, Hardheim, Germany.
There are a couple of factors that have contributed to the significant growth and expansion of the show’s popularity. NEWCAST is sponsored by German heavyweights like BDG and VDG along with additional support from the European Foundry Association (CAEF), which ensure stability from edition to edition. This has resulted in over 430 exhibitors and 3900 specialist visitors on a regular basis. For a specialized exhibition, these are particularly strong numbers. The majority of trade visitors came from outside Germany and predominantly from European countries. The group with second-greatest numbers is from Asia. The professional breakdown of visitors reveals a good representation from multiple sectors - automobile, mechanical engineering, services, electrical engineering, wholesale and export trade, electronics and construction industries.
