Exhibitions in Istanbul, Turkey for Metal Working Industries

Istanbul is easily the economic and industrial heart of the city and well represents the country’s metalworking industry through serving as the home to the Turkish Employers’ Association of Metal Industries (shortened to MESS). The pivotal organization that’s come to very well shape the trajectory of Turkey’s metalworking sector was founded in 1959 and has since then played a critical role in fostering industrial harmony, driving economic growth, and enhancing Turkey’s global competitiveness. MESS represents 209 member companies employing 185,000 workers, covering key sectors such as automotive, iron and steel casting, and white goods production. The collective output of these firms accounts for 27% of the nation’s exports, 24% of its overall manufacturing turnover, and 12% of employment in the metals industry. The numbers confirm how the metalworking industries form the bedrock of Turkey’s economy. In 2000, MESS and the Turkish Metal Union launched the Joint Education Project, a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at fostering lifelong learning among employees in the metalworking industry. This ambitious program sought to empower 160,000 workers with the skills and knowledge demanded by modern industry. It did so by blending personal and professional development to enhance productivity and innovation. How Istanbul, through MESS, supports the metalworking industry is through looking out for the employees’ wellbeing. MESS is behind collective bargaining and collaborative agreements, which ensures sustained cooperation between employers and workers. The organization has successfully demonstrated how balanced industrial relations not only foster workplace harmony but also boosts efficiency and competitiveness, which is critical for positioning Turkey as a global metalworking contender. As the birthplace of MESS, Istanbul has put on the mantle of the metalworking sector’s champion. Its firms and institutions exemplify a progressive approach to industrial relations, integrating cutting-edge technology and human capital development.
