Nordstil
Hamburg's most extensive consumer goods event
Nordstil is a fresh addition to the consumer goods industry, with its very first edition held back in 2014. It has quickly grown to be an important order platform and a place for new seasonal trends to make their debut. Nordstil highlights predominantly tastes and design sensibility from the North (Northern Germany and Scandinavia).
The exhibition halls are divided into four major categories – Home & Garden, Style & Design, Gifts & Stationery and Jewellery & Fashion. Nordstil features every product you can imagine, from kitchen accessories, candles, home textiles and furniture to wines, flowers, cutlery, and souvenirs.

Although officially organised by Messe Frankfurt, Nordstil takes place in the city of Hamburg, Germany. The international trade fair for decoration and interior design has two editions – one in the winter in January and one in the summer in July. Each edition lasts for about three days and doors are open to professional visitors only.
Working hours are from 09:00 am up until 18:00 pm. The only exception is the last day when the fair wraps up at 17:00 pm. Messe Hamburg enjoys an excellent location in the central part of the city. It stands just one stop via public transport from Hamburg Central Station, which is great because the station is also connected to the Hamburg Airport. This gives professional visitors mobility in commuting to the exhibition grounds. You have your choices of S-Bahn, U-Bahn and bus lines to travel around the city of Hamburg with ease.
“We had a lot of contact with our customers before the trade fair, who communicated clearly with us: We need a trade fair, we want to see, touch and experience products in reality again. The communication in the run-up to the trade fair worked well so that customers contacted us beforehand,” – Detlef Klatt, founder and designer, Klatt Objects;
“At Nordstil this year, customers had a smaller selection of exhibitors and this change in layout meant that we also gained new customers. We definitely wanted to be at the fair and thus return to normality a little,” – Jens Ristedt, plant manager, Posiwio;
“Overall, we are very satisfied with the fair. This is a special time for all of us, which was not easy for most of us. But we are very positively surprised by the Nordstil. We are very satisfied with the orders and especially with the quality of the customers who attended Nordstil,” – Anna Upleger, Managing Director of Agentur Anna Upleger;
Back in 2019, Nordstil commanded an impressive turnout. There were close to 1000 exhibitors per edition, who brought the full range of products for the home and gift sector. Of course, there was high interest as well with a little over 19,000 trade visitors from all over Europe. Because the trade fair has such a focus on Northern Germany and Scandinavia – the vast majority of designers and manufacturers come from Northern European countries. This applies to visitors as well, who represent local markets and spread to the rest of Europe.
Overall, 90% of all visitors are satisfied with the product arrangement and opportunities to shop. More than 70% of trade visitors represent the retail sector, from store chains to boutiques and online stores. They’re followed by wholesale and trade, services and skilled trades. Exhibitors should be more than excited because two-thirds of all trade visitors have decisive purchasing power and have the budget to back that up.
