The private label sector's leading event
PLMA is one of the foundational international trade shows, which services the private label sector in Europe and has been delivering a potent environment for business negotiations and purchases. The trade show has existed for more than 30 years, with the very first edition being held in 1986. Over the years, PLMA has proved itself integral to the private label industry in Europe to the point it created a satellite event (PLMA Chicago) for the US and Canadian markets.
The private label industry is wide-ranging in its product portfolio, with every imaginable food and non-food product featured. There are snacks, beverages, fruits and vegetables, dry and canned goods, frozen food and ready-to-eat products (not to forget speciality, national and regional foods). On the non-food side, you have health and beauty, household and kitchen, DIY, paper and plastics, electronics, personal hygiene, leisure, and gardening. PLMA fosters cross-border procurement and highlights market trends through its seminar program.
PLMA 2024
Professionals in the private label sector will have to wait until 2024 to meet and network during PLMA. The latest in-person edition of the event will be held at the Amsterdam RAI. PLMA 2024 will take place between 28.05.2024 and 29.05.2024. The venue will not incorporate strict Covid-19 safety measures due to the country lifting its pandemic restrictions.

PLMA runs on a tight annual schedule with editions expected to occur during the month of May, however, due to the developing COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition has been moved to the first week of December. Editions last for two days in total and are open to professional visitors, experts, and buyers within the private label sector.
The organiser of the event is the PLMA (Private Label Manufacturers Association) and the European show is held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The show takes place in Amsterdam RAI as usual and exhibitors have a wide variety of ways to reach the exhibition centre. Due to its central location, Amsterdam RAI can easily be reached on foot or by scooter. You can also expect regular public transport service throughout the day to make your trip to PLMA all the more efficient.
- PLMA exists as a way to facilitate international business dealings and in that sense, it’s the best platform to gain attention outside your region, meet with potential buyers and get a better taste of the larger market as a whole;
- PLMA further commits to this idea by including The PLMA Matchmaker (meant to help you put meetings in order) and the PLMA Idea Supermarket (a chance to highlight your processes and ideas through presentations);
- PLMA also hosts an excellent seminar program, where experts share business acumen and financial advice alongside emergent trends – all part of the Executive Education Classes.
The reason PLMA continues to be a domineering force on the market is its scale. Product range aside, the international trade show unites the entire territory of Europe through, including more than 60 national pavilions. There are more than 2700 international exhibitors, who make it a point year after year to showcase their products and services and grab visitors' attention. And grab they successfully do, as organisers report an influx of more than 15,000 trade visitors and each year expectations grow larger. The audience is comprised most of allby retailers. These include department stores, super- and hypermarkets, discounters and drugstores. Geographically, there’s a strong focus on European countries. This is achieved by a strong representation from Germany, Italy, France and Spain, but there has been a push to include more countries outside Europe (Brazil and Indonesia) as well as less-known European markets (Bulgaria and Romania).
