Update for the Event

It is going to be another two long years before the raw materials and building materials industry can meet again in person. steinexpo 2021 has been officially cancelled as a result of travel bans and the complications surrounding COVID-19. Geoplan GmbH have already selected the dates for steinexpo 2023: August 23rd – August 26th.

There will not be a digital show available in the gap year, because organisers believe that only live demonstrations and business meetings can achieve the best results for your business. The largest basalt quarry will carry out a spectacular edition amidst the latest coronavirus protective measures.

The construction industry has been in constant catchup with the demands for bigger and better buildings and where innovation has been quickest to roll out has been in the field of constructing machinery. Innovations, demonstrations and business networking at the highest levels occur at Steinexpo – one of the leading events for construction machinery in Europe with strong channels to international markets. The international exhibition has been a mainstay since its inaugural event in 1990 and now functions as a premier procurement platform.

The product lineup is certainly one that has yet to be matched and features heavy-duty trucks SKW, drilling rigs, dumpers, hydraulic shears, machinery for ready-mix concrete manufacturing, asphalt manufacturing machinery, wheel loaders, and demolition hammers to name a few. The real strength of Steinexpo is the fact it takes place in a quarry, where visitors are actually able to see the machinery in their element.

One of the reasons Steinexpo has achieved such a level of success is the practicality of its location. The exhibition is based in Homberg, Germany – a town that’s very near the Hochberg quarry. It’s the largest basalt quarry in Europe and the perfect stage for exhibitors to put their machinery and equipment to the test once every three years.

Editions are usually scheduled for the end of summer in late August to early September and go on for a total of four days. Admission is granted to both industry professionals and the public and the official organizer is Geoplan. Working hours are set from 09:00 am until 17:00 pm. In terms of commuting, the only way to get to the quarry is to get a car and drive to the quarry, but the drive isn’t long at all and you’re able to make the trip in no time.

Audience & statistics

It’s smart to invest in the Steinexpo brand because it’s extremely profitable. Organizers reveal that 93% of all trade visitors are there to make purchases and most of them have sole decision-making authority in their company or are in strong advisory positions. The audience is filled with senior management. We’re talking technical management, business management, middle management at construction material companies as well as high positions in authorities and administrations. The even better news is that there are a lot of them – over 53,000 visitors as a whole – compared to the number of international exhibitors – a little under 300 companies. That is a good ratio to have. So what are the countries that are represented? It’s mainly a European affair with EU states and CEE states.
