Introduction

Established in 1978, Abf (or auto, boot und Freizeit, which translates to car, boat and leisure time) has been serving the German market faithfully and has been the source of many new trends. Currently, organisers are in the process of preparing Messe Hannover for the 2025 live edition. The rendition will be hosted between 12.02.2025-16.02.2025. The exhibition grounds will not employ the latest and best in COVID-19 protective measures. This is because Germany has lifted its pandemic-related limitations, including the ones affecting international travel.

The international travel show makes its way to Hannover, Germany every single year. Editions are held early in the year at the start of February in order to give visitors choices and inspirations for the whole year ahead. Programming lasts for five days in total, and Messe Hannover is open to all people, from professionals to the public. Right now, Abf is co-run alongside BIG, another major show for building, real estate, gardening and furnishing. Work hours are set for 10:00 in the morning – 18:00 in the evening. Deutsche Messe AG always delivers a dynamic show. Getting to Messe Hannover is easy. The fastest way to get to the exhibition centre is with tram lines 8 (also stops at Hannover central station) and 18. The light rail services the airport and central station, so you have an easy way to get from the airport to the city centre and Abf in no time.

Exhibitors have much to gain from a fair booth at Abf because the trade show has one of the biggest and most loyal audiences in the world. Editions regularly see between 91,000 and 92,000 visitors coming from all over the country. In addition to professional visitors, you have a large volume of private travellers and enthusiasts. These are great numbers for just about 700 exhibitors that are at the exhibition centre. The majority of exhibitors are based in Germany, but you also have some from Austria, France, the UK, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway, Italy, and Sweden. The official sponsor for Abf is the ADAC Lower Saxony/Saxony-Anhalt. There are all kinds of exhibitors at Abf from tour operators, travel agencies, tourism associations and tourist offices to cruise operators, campsites, and hotels.
Abf 2023
Abf 2023 took place as a live trade fair in Messe Hannover and featured 91 000 visitors and 500 exhibitors. The edition's support programme resulted in high satisfaction among participants. For instance, 82% of visitors are considering attending the next rendition. 87% would recommend the trade show to other industry specialists.
Abf 2024
ABF 2024 was a live trade fair hosted between 31.01.2024 and 04.02.2024 in Messe Hannover. The event was attended by over 86,000 visitors. They overviewed the wares of more than 530 exhibitors.
