Exhibitions in Stuttgart, Germany for Hospitality

Baden-Württemberg has cultivated a robust hospitality industry. The German municipality utilizes its cultural richness and natural diversity to pull in visitors from near and far. Today, there are over 32,000 establishments in the hospitality sector, which include more than 6800 accommodation facilities and approximately 25,500 restaurants. Stuttgart is a popular stop for travellers regardless of purpose and that has led to the city growing its own specific hospitality landscape. Despite the predominance of small-scale enterprises, the sector contributes significantly to the city’s economic fabric. As nearly 60% of businesses employ one to five individuals and around 40% generate revenues up to EUR 100,000, the sector is best characterized as diverse and dynamic. While Stuttgart attracts a high number of visitors, the average length of stay remains relatively short, averaging around two nights. This trend is attributed to Stuttgart’s function as a financial center, which brings in predominantly business travelers, who conduct business quickly and then depart. The local export-focused economy and an array of attractions for day trips and short breaks contributes greatly to the consistent influx of global travelers. Notably, visitors from Switzerland and the United States make up a significant portion of foreign guests, reflecting the close economic ties between these countries and Baden-Württemberg. In contrast, regions like Lake Constance and the Black Forest appeal more to leisure and spa visitors, who are much more likely to invest into longer stays. If we’re to look at the make-up of visitors coming to Stuttgart, the vast majority are domestic travellers. A little over 25% are flying in from abroad. The pandemic, of course, has left a large mark on Stuttgart’s hospitality sector that the industry is still recovering from. Growth projections are cautious, but as a whole the next few years are going to be fruitful for local hotels and guesthouses.
