Alleima, a global leader in advanced stainless steels, special alloys and industrial heating solutions, is set to significantly expand its operations in the canton of Bern. This strategic move comes in response to increasing demand for high-quality plated components across electric mobility, luxury goods, and medical sectors. In a major development, Alleima is relocating its production from the smaller facility in Saint-Imier to a more expansive 4,000 square meter site in Sonceboz. This transition, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024, will enable Alleima to scale up its manufacturing capabilities and better serve its diverse clientele. The new facility will house a novel automated production line, designed to enhance the company’s surface treatment capabilities for electric vehicles and charging connectors. The deal brings more business to the growing electric and electronics industry in Bern. Founded in October 2021 following the acquisition of Accuratech Group, Alleima, along with its Kanthal division, has established itself as a specialist in ultra-fine wires and micro-tubes, primarily for the medical industry. The Saint-Imier unit, known for its electroplating expertise, plays a pivotal role in producing components for electric and hybrid vehicle charging. With the demand for home charging stations expected to increase, this expansion is both timely and strategically significant. Outside electric mobility, Alleima’s products are also integral to numerous high-end luxury brands. The expansion is projected to increase the workforce by around ten employees over the next two years. The investment in a fully automated plating line is a cornerstone of this expansion. This advanced technology will not only boost production efficiency but also align with sustainability goals by minimizing waste and enhancing precision. The gradual transfer of operations from Saint-Imier to Sonceboz throughout 2024 will ensure a seamless transition and uninterrupted service to Alleima’s customers.
