A pivotal business platform for the agri-food sector
Organised for the first time in 1985, Cibus has emerged as the definitive trade show for the Italian food industry. The international platform gives the space for local brands and manufacturers to come in contact with international companies in the food distribution sector. Cibus presents buyers and trade visitors the full offering of the Italian agri-food sector from local produce, fruits, meat products and deli meats to dairy products, pasta, oils and vinegars. Of course, the product assortment extends to ready meals, bakery products, health and baby products, and so much more. If there’s a food or beverage you’re interested in, Cibus probably has it. This makes the trade show the biggest platform for Made in Italy food producers and lives up the reputation of Italian food quality and cuisine.

Cibus follows a familiar pattern for food shows. Editions are held once every two years and last for a total of four days. Cibus falls on even years and normally is held towards the beginning of May. The international trade show operates out of Fiere di Parma in Parma, Italy and is open to trade visitors only. Fiere di Parma S.p.A. functions as the organiser for the event. Working hours are set from 09:30 in the morning until 18:00 in the afternoon during all four days. Fiere di Parma enjoys a great location in the city under an hour from Linate Airport in Milan and the Marconi Airport in Bologna. The exhibition centre is well serviced by shuttle bus. Exhibitors can catch a shuttle bus from the Parma railway station and the ride takes about 10 minutes. The shuttle bus also makes a stop in the city centre. In addition, anyone can take the CheViaggi Shuttle Bus service from the AV (High Speed) Mediopadana Railway Station.
Cibus is primarily geared towards the Italian market, as roughly 20% of all visitors were foreign nationals. This is part of the appeal for exhibitors, because then they’re open to the Italian market to the fullest. Last edition saw the participation of 83,000 trade visitors. You have professionals from every corner of the industry. The most (40%) came from retail, which are then followed by importers and distributors, catering services and independent retailers. Out of all visitors, there were also over 2,900 buyers from 90 countries, which only proves the value of the hosted buyer program. Supply can easily meet demand. You’re able to develop strong professional relationships in no time. Exhibitors number 3100 companies, which presented the full wealth of products, and exhibitors were well satisfied and interested in returning once again. Cibus enjoys sponsorship from the Italian Taste project, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Trade Agency among others.
