While not a leather manufacturing centre, Paris contributes greatly to the French leather industry by bringing high-profile international buyers to survey leather goods being made in the country. The city is home to events like Première Vision Paris, which gathers fashion professionals from all over the world. Although the fair maintains a wide focus on all things fashion and textile, leather remains one of the fair’s central product groups. The 2024 edition featured the Hosted Guest initiative, which previously welcomed 194 key figures from the fashion industry. This program served a double purpose in promoting networking as well as accelerating the digitalization of the industry. The iconic leather range from French tanners once again shone a spotlight on the country’s rich heritage in leather craftsmanship. The collaboration between creative ornamentation specialists Tanneurs Français and Teintures de France take centre stage in the Leather Trend Area, to rave reviews. This project celebrated the excellence and natural expression of leather through exclusive and experimental designs that reflect the material's inherent beauty. In addition to showcasing traditional craftsmanship, Première Vision Paris also introduced the Leather Hub, a new area dedicated to inspiration and innovation. This hub highlighted remarkable leathers set to define the Spring/Summer 2025 season, emphasising their application in clothing, footwear, and leather goods. Attendees saw between 250 and 300 innovative products, with specific seasonal and colour information presented through 12 “windows” focused on shoe and leather goods accessories. The emphasis on sustainability and eco-innovations was a key theme in the Leather Hub. With a growing demand for environmentally friendly practices within the fashion industry, this area showcased the best uses, techniques, and sustainable developments. By placing a spotlight on French tanneries, Première Vision Paris reinforces the country’s position as a leader in the global leather industry.
