Exhibitions in Spain for Marble

The marble industry is one of Spain’s chief economic pillars as the country possesses several rich deposits concentrated in the Mediterranean provinces of Murcia, Almeria, and Alicante. As one of the world’s leading producers of marble, Spain’s marble industry has experienced substantial growth in recent years. In 2023 alone, the industry generated EUR 1.7 billion in revenue. Spain’s exports of natural stone, including marble, saw a 12% increase last year. Countries such as France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have been major consumers of Spanish marble. These nations value the high quality of the stone, incorporating it into a range of public and private projects from airports and government buildings to commercial centres and universities. Spanish marble’s durability, elegance, and low maintenance costs make it a preferred material for large-scale infrastructure and architectural designs. One company at the forefront of Spain’s marble industry is URBAS, which has strengthened its international presence and played a pivotal role in major infrastructure projects. With an established footprint in Latin America, the Middle East, and Spain, URBAS is the main driver of growth and expansion from the Mula quarry, one of Spain’s key marble extraction sites. This quarry produces five distinct types of marble, with the 'Mármol Beige Serpiente' and 'Mármol Bronce' varieties standing out for their versatility and aesthetic appeal. These types have been used in major projects like Terminal 1 of Madrid Airport, Alicante Airport, and the City of Justice in Alicante. The Mula quarry not only contributes to Spain’s export capacity but also serves as an economic engine for the region of Murcia, creating over 100 direct and indirect jobs. The quarry’s production has become a vital component of Spain’s marble industry and also supports local economies while also catering to international demand.
