Playtime will have to take a backseat as Spielwarenmesse 2022 has changed its dates to 2 to 6 February due to concerns over the coronavirus situation in Germany. The venue of choice is still Messe Nuremberg in Nuremberg, Germany, where strict social distancing and sanitation protocols will be observed.

The Nuremberg Toy Fair remains the most important international trade fair dealing with toys and games for all age groups, where the latest trends in board games, books, dolls and puzzles are revealed. The trade fair appears under many names. You can encounter it as simply International Toy Fair or its original name in German, Spielwarenmesse. Since its first edition in 1949, the fair has evolved from a local marketplace into one of the trendsetters for the toy industry.

The product portfolio extends to games, books, festive and trends articles, arts & crafts, sports and leisure, baby and infant articles, technical toys, education toys, model construction, hobbies, model railways, dolls & soft toys, wooden toys, school articles and stationery. Spielwarenmesse boasts a varied support program that allows you to receive top knowledge from the reigning experts and giants in the field as well as survey current trends and be present as exclusive product debuts.

As you might have guessed from its name, Nuremberg Toy Fair is based in Nuremberg, Germany, where it runs every single year. It’s customary for the trade fair to open calendar year, so editions most often are staged at the end of January and early February for a total of five days.

Only trade visitors are admitted to Messe Nurnberg and working hours are scheduled from 09:00 am in the morning until 18:00 pm in the afternoon. Spielwarenmesse eG steps in as the official organiser. If you’re not driving to the exhibition centre, we have good news – it’s fairly easy to commute to Messe Nurnberg using public transport. The fastest way is to get on the U1 metro line. You can also take buses from the city centre and airport.
