Exhibitions in Nurnberg, Germany for Pharmaceuticals

The pharmaceutical industry in Nuremberg and the surrounding Bavarian region is a critical pillar of the local economy as it contributes approximately €4.5 billion in value annually and employs around 26,000 people. While Munich may be the epicenter of pharmaceutical research in Bavaria, Nuremberg has also an important role to play, particularly through its strong focus on healthcare, medical technology, and pharmaceutics. Nuremberg’s position in the pharmaceutical industry is further aided by its close proximity to the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, one of Germany’s most esteemed medical faculties. This institution has developed a strong reputation for pioneering medical research and has cultivated numerous partnerships with external research institutions. These collaborations place the university and Nuremberg at the forefront of medical advancements, particularly in the realm of pharmaceuticals and healthcare technologies. The university’s partnership with technical faculties further strengthens its capabilities. Nuremberg Hospital also plays a significant role in the local pharmaceutical ecosystem. With 36 clinics and institutes, it stands as one of Europe’s largest hospitals, offering specialized care and advanced medical treatments. Its international reputation attracts patients from across the globe, contributing to Nuremberg’s growing importance in global healthcare. Similarly, Erlangen University Hospital, with 42 clinics, serves as an important research and clinical hub, using the latest technologies and therapies to treat complex conditions. Beyond research and clinical work, Nuremberg’s pharmaceuticals industry benefits from an extensive network of companies involved in research, development, and production. Key organizations like the Bavarian Medical Valley Association and the KIMPG (Regional Initiative Medicine-Pharmacology-Health) have helped facilitate knowledge transfer. Nuremberg is also home to important start-up incubators such as the Center for Innovation and New Companies (IGZ) and the Center for Innovation in Medical Technology and Pharmaceutics (IZMP). These centers provide essential support for emerging pharmaceutical and medical technology companies.
