Exhibitions in Leipzig, Germany for Medical Equipment

Leipzig is quickly gaining a reputation within Germany’s wider medical equipment industry as a rising star in terms of innovation. Walking in the footsteps of Berlin and Düsseldorf, Leipzig has invested heavily in research, startups and institutional support. Today, the city is connected to groundbreaking projects such as developing cutting-edge cell therapeutics. Leipzig’s strength in healthcare innovation is rooted in its world-class research institutions. The city is home to pioneering organisations like the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, where Professor Svante Pääbo received the 2022 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his contributions to evolutionary biology. Leipzig is also a global leader in the development, production, and logistics of cell therapeutics, making it a vital player in this growing sector of healthcare. The city’s hospitals, clinics, and commercial companies work hand-in-hand with research institutes to ensure that these innovations move quickly from lab to clinic. One of the city’s standout initiatives is the Medical Forge, a health technology accelerator that provides a vital bridge between startups and the German healthcare market. Launched in collaboration with biosaxony, the Medical Forge helps innovative medical technology companies bring their products to market faster. The 12-month program offers startups invaluable resources, including coworking labs, offices, and workshops, as well as personalised consulting and mentoring. Startups also receive a team budget to aid in their development efforts. In its first year, the Medical Forge has already nurtured six international startups, including Saventic Health GmbH and Next3D GmbH, both of which are making strides in healthcare innovation. By fostering these young companies, Leipzig is ensuring a continuous pipeline of new technologies and solutions for the healthcare sector. The Leipzig Office for Economic Development’s recent partnership with biosaxony, the industry association for Saxony’s life science cluster, has further solidified the city’s role as a medical innovation hub.
