The industrial cleaning and maintenance industry in Berlin gathers every two year to network and do business at CMS Berlin, the city's premier trade fair for commercial cleaning systems. The trade show hit record-breaking numbers in 2023, attracting around 21,000 visitors, up from 20,000 in 2019. The event has cemented itself as a central meeting point for the cleaning industry. The four-day fair featured a diverse range of products, innovations, live demonstrations from 421 exhibitors from 25 countries. One of the key highlights of CMS Berlin was the Purus Innovation Award (PIA), which honored six winners from a pool of 83 entries. Exhibitors showcased 86 innovations, with 29 making their trade fair debut and nine appearing on the global stage for the first time. The Mobility Cleaning Circle, an exclusive networking event for representatives of the mobility and cleaning sectors, also made a notable impact. With 70 guests in attendance, discussions focused on sustainable cleaning concepts for public transport vehicles. A standout innovation at CMS Berlin was the S700 exoskeleton from exoIQ, designed to assist workers in performing strenuous tasks with greater ease. The exoskeleton resembles a lightweight hiking backpack and provides support for extended overhead work. Weighing six kilos but feeling much lighter due to its even weight distribution, the S700 features a rear-mounted hydraulic motor and an intuitive control unit that activates assistance programs. The exoskeleton's integrated battery lasts four to six hours, with a replacement battery provided for longer tasks. While it doesn't bestow users with superhuman strength, it significantly reduces fatigue. Berlin‘s industrial cleaning and maintenance industry is clearly on an upward trajectory, driven by technological advancements and a renewed focus on sustainability. As the sector continues to evolve, events like CMS Berlin play a crucial role in fostering innovation and collaboration.
