Exhibitions in USA for Entertainment & Media

The United States media and entertainment industry rules over the world as the market to beat. It’s currently evaluated at $660 billion within the $2 trillion global market. Yet, like many sectors, it faced a formidable challenge in 2020, enduring a significant $53 billion, or 7.3%, decline attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the American sector has been quick to pivot towards untapped niches. One of the defining trends of the past year has been the exponential growth of streaming services and digital media subscriptions. This surge has particularly favored sectors like mobile video on demand (MVoD), video games, and music, which have capitalized on the increasing demand for at-home entertainment options. This comes at the expense of traditional avenues such as live performances, touring and the gig economy, which grapple with closures and restrictions. The media and entertainment industry encompasses a wide spectrum of businesses, ranging from motion pictures and television programs to eSports and video games. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the core copyright industries continued to be a formidable force in the US economy. In 2018 alone, these industries contributed $2.2 trillion, accounting for 11.6% of the nation’s GDP and employing over 11.6 million workers. Within the broadcasting sector, which includes radio stations, television broadcasting and subscription programming, employment figures are strong. In 2019, the industry provided jobs for 268,170 individuals with an average annual wage of $69,880. Notably, occupations such as media and communications workers, media and communication equipment workers, and entertainers and performers form as key pillars in the sector. Initiatives like the International Trade Administration's Global M&E Team offer invaluable support and resources for US businesses seeking to expand their footprint in international markets, ensuring that the industry continues to thrive on a global scale.
