Exhibitions in Hamburg, Germany for Aerospace, Airport Technology

Germany has successfully created numerous aerospace clusters all across its territory and Hamburg emerges as another success story for the country. It’s only natural since the city has made major contributions to the sector over the course of a century. Over 100 years ago, the foundation of the first airship hangar in Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel marked the beginning of a rich aviation history that has shaped the city's identity. In January 2011, a monumental step in the city's aerospace journey was made when the Aviation Cluster Hamburg Metropolitan Region Association opened its doors. Its creation was the product of corporate academics, and state government interests all converged into one place. The initiative brought together major industry players like Airbus, Lufthansa Technik and Hamburg Airport. Their presence has since then led to the establishment of a wide-spanning network that has over 300 suppliers and numerous technological and scientific institutions. Together, they form a rich ecosystem that spans aircraft construction, maintenance and airport operations. Hamburg’s role in the aerospace industry isn't just historical; it's also pioneering the future. The city has embraced the concept of urban air mobility and is leading the way as a Model Region for Urban Air Mobility since 2018. In doing so, Hamburg is among the first European cities to explore the civil use of drones and other urban air aviation technologies. The conditions for urban air mobility in Hamburg are ideal thanks to its dense urban environment and a thriving community of aviation companies and operators dedicated to advancing drone technology. The city involved itself in the EU-supported Urban Air Mobility Initiative alongside 14 European municipalities, including Ingolstadt. The future looks more than bright as the city seeks to explore innovative and sustainable transportation solutions, which will only elevate Hamburg’s status as a key player in Germany’s aerospace industry.
