Exhibitions in Hamburg, Germany for Decorations

Hamburg’s decorations industry brims with fresh ideas and has left a unique mark on the city. The transformation of the Edelfettwerk on Schnackenburgallee is a prime example of the creativity and skill unique to local manufacturers. Originally a factory from the 1930s that manufactured fats and greases, this 6,000 sqm premises has been repurposed into a chic, industrial-style venue for private and public events. The venue, which retains the name ""Edelfettwerk"" (literally translating to ""fine fat-processing factory""), successfully demonstrates how industrial heritage can be preserved while embracing contemporary design. The metamorphosis of the Edelfettwerk into a modern event space involved meticulous interior design, spearheaded by the Hamburg-based cabinetmaking firm uniQ. Known for their high standards of craftsmanship and sophisticated fittings, uniQ's founders, Richard Kommorowski and Stephan Roterberg, brought their expertise in creating customized unique pieces for private customers to this public project. The materials chosen for the venue, particularly the metal surfaces produced by Homapal, were critical in achieving the desired industrial yet sophisticated look. The materials used needed to withstand greater wear and tear, prompting the use of Homapal's authentic metal surfaces. The ""630 copper black patinated"" decor not only added a classy finish to the former laboratory's rear wall but also played a crucial role in the interplay of lighting and displays, creating a visually captivating environment. The design for the laboratory included a tailored counter with a buffet on the rear side, open and closed cubes of various sizes to conceal the bare walls and exhaust system, and an increasing carcass depth that gave the rear wall a forward-inclining appearance. This intricate design required more than 40 sqm of Homapal’s metal finish, produced through a special embossing process and refined by hand. The result is a flame-resistant, virtually emission-free laminate that pairs sophistication with practicality, perfectly suited for the dynamic atmosphere of an event venue.
