Exhibitions in Italy for Stone

Italy’s natural stone industry recorded massive export growth in 2024 as the sector reached an export value of €2.178 billion; this would be a 5.8% increase compared to the previous year and reflecting renewed international appetite for Italian stone products. Exports of raw stone materials such as marble and granite blocks surged by 10.7%, totaling €457 million. Slabs and finished stone products, meanwhile, maintained a solid pace with a 4.5% rise, reaching €1.721 billion in value. The figures suggest that Italy is not only a leading supplier of raw materials but also a trendsetter in high-end architectural and interior design products. Key export markets continue to highlight the diverse global demand for Italian stone. China remained the top importer of raw materials, purchasing €228.8 million worth in 2024, setting a record with 27% year-on-year increase. In contrast, India, the second-largest buyer of raw materials, reduced its imports by nearly 15%, reflecting possible shifts in domestic market dynamics. We also have the USA, which was the predominant export market for slabs and finished stone products. The value for imports to the country climbed by 14% from 2023 and hit at €541.9 million. Germany followed as the second-largest buyer, although it recorded a slight dip of 1.7%, importing €125.1 million in 2024. Average export prices also rose slightly, reaching €1,016.38 per ton, up nearly 2% over last year. This price increase signals continued demand for premium-grade stone and reinforces Italy’s positioning at the high end of the global stone market. The most desired export of Italy’s natural stone industry remained the Carrara marble, which is highly sought after for its fine grain and luminous white surface. When you think of Italian marble, you think of Carrara, which has graced everything from Renaissance masterpieces like Michelangelo’s David to the interiors of luxury residences and five-star hotels.
