A Road Map to the Largest Trade Fairs Set to Place in 2022 - 2023

As 2023 approaches and organisers look towards better conditions for international travel as well as safer conditions for hosting in-person events, we take a look at the next calendar year and circle the largest trade shows on the horizon.

OCTOBER 2022

SIAL 2022: Paris, France

Before the year ends, we have SIAL 2022 to look forward to, which is scheduled for October 15th – October 19th. Paris, France is set to welcome more than 310,000 trade visitors eager to immerse themselves in all things culinary, and they’ll get their wish at one of the largest food & beverage events worldwide. It’s an event not to be missed as over 7200 exhibitors populate the exhibition halls of the Paris Nord Villipente Exhibition Centre, and inspire with new products, services and technologies across all related product categories.

Experience all the flavours of the world at the La Cuisine area. Visitors are able to engage with food and drink with their senses. It’s a culinary guide of the highest order with live demonstrations and a culinary photo exhibition. Every two years, SIAL brings you innovations upon innovations, which you can discover at FUTURE LAB. Think AI, automation, digital mapping and personalised products in relation to the food & beverage industry and their potential applications.

NOVEMBER

MEDICA 2022: Dusseldorf, Germany

The last large trade show for the year you need to pay attention to is MEDICA 2022 – a definitive cross-border platform for the medical industry in Europe. Between November 14th and November 17th, Messe Düsseldorf is expected to host 6400 exhibitors and 120,000 trade visitors from a total of 60 countries. MEDICA supplies hospitals, practices and other medical institutions with every relevant product group from pharmaceuticals, medical technology, hospital equipment and dental medicine to ophthalmic optics and sports medicine.

The addition of COMPAMED as supporting trade show strengthens the international appeal of the event, bringing in high-quality sales leads. Important to highlight are the investments made to the digital components of the show. MEDICA’s digital platform provides a catalogue of the most up-to-date medical products and innovations and the “Who is Who” networking tool. The 2021 edition also hosted live online exhibitor sessions.

FEBRUARY 2023

Mobile World Congress 2023: Barcelona, Spain

The year kicks with a juggernaut event for the mobile communication industry in Europe. Mobile World Congress 2023 is back at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via from February 27th to March 2nd. The trade show enjoys the patronage of household brands like Google, Huawei, KT, Sierra Wireless, T-Mobile, Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, Telefonica, IBM, csg, OOKLA, Kaspersky and Lenovo. It’s only natural that attendance remains at a high. You can expect 1900 exhibitors and over 61,000 international trade visitors in person.

Digital engagement reaches even higher as last edition registered 500,000+ digital viewers. It’s only natural given the wide range of technologies and topics discussed – immersive content, AI and automation alongside connectivity, digital wellness, trust, and security. The fast-paced nature of the exhibition is only heightened by the lineup of keynote speeches and run panel discussions.

MARCH 2023

Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2023: Bologna, Italy

Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2023 kicks off on March 16th for five days, closing on March 20th at Bologna Fiere. The seminal trade show for perfumery and cosmetics is back in full force. Even with the pandemic, you can expect 2700 international exhibitors from 70 countries, 23 country pavilions, and 220,000 international visitors from 140 countries. This is only befitting this mega show, which is three individual shows in one. One ticket gives you access to COSMO HAIR & NAIL & BEAUTY SALON, COSMOPACK and COSMO PERFUMERY & COSMETICS.

MARCH 2023

ProWein 2023: Dusseldorf, Germany

ProWein 2023 is back at Messe Dusseldorf between March 19th and March 21st. This is an essential trade fair for the wine industry and an absolute must to reach the right audience. You have the whole world of wine on display, including every single wine-making region. It’s the best place to source new wines, which is why the audience reaches up to 61,500 trade visitors.

ProWein has expanded its offerings with a highly popular sector – organic wines. The wine tastings and tours are not to be missed for anything in the world. All in all, you’ll be among 6900 exhibitors from household names to small operations. In total, 142 countries are showcased in the best way. MAY 2023

Vitafoods Europe & Finished Products Expo 2023: Geneva, Switzerland

Vitafoods Europe & Finished Products Expo is the central event for the dietary supplement market in Europe and it’s going to rule the Palexpo in Geneva from May 1st until May 12th. The interest in dietary supplements is only picking up steam with millions being invested every year. This trade show covers raw materials and ingredients, branded finished products, contract manufacturing and private label, services, and equipment.

You’ll get the newest launches from a total of 658 exhibitors, while the audience regularly reaches over 22,000 international trade visitors. It’s a thriving marketplace and go-to meeting place for major brands and buyers. Product launches do incredibly well, plus you get to convert sales leads through the many tasting opportunities. EBACE 2023: Geneva, Switzerland

Later on, the Palexpo, will host the busiest trade show for business aviation in Europe – EBACE. You’ll see all there is from the fields of avionics, cabin & cockpit AV equipment, fuel suppliers, in-flight entertainment systems, flight training simulators, ground transportation, maintenance and repair stations, safety and emergency equipment as presented by 400 international exhibitors.

All of this is happening between May 23rd and May 25th. EBACE continues to evolve and the most recent chapter in its history is the great introduction of the Standards & Training for Aviation Responsibility & Sustainability (S.T.A.R.S.). This special event aims to improve sustainability in the aviation industry through practical instruction. Learn about all the ways flight can become eco-friendly. Editions typically bring 13,000 aviation professionals to network, catch up and tour the 50+ state-of-the-art business aircraft on display.

AUGUST 2023

Aqua Nor 2023: Trondheim, Norway

In August, the aquaculture industry in Europe will gather once again at Aqua Nor for face-to-face networking. Trondheim Spektrum will host the edition between August 22nd and August 25th and expectations are that this event will exceed the 2021 edition’s performance - 3885 international visitors. The trade show is the meeting point for the biggest players in Europe and 35 countries are thoroughly represented with an emphasis on the Scandinavian region.

The product portfolio extends to feed and feeding regimes, fish farming equipment, aquaculture, water supply, water technology breeding, biomass control, nets, handling of fish, safety equipment, veterinary medicine, vaccines, and construction and operation of floating cages. Visitors are also treated to a great social programme. Gamescom 2023: Cologne, Germany

Gamescom is a launch pad for many game and console premieres and hosts e-sports championships, making it an essential part of the gaming sector and community of Europe. The 2023 edition is set to run between August 23rd and August 27th at Koelnmesse and kick off the programme with the crowd favourite Opening Night Live. This massive first event racks up over 12,000,000 views online. It’s all about the experience – seeing new computer games, console games, hardware, communication technology, promo items and software.

Editions are well attended with over 1100 exhibitors and 250,000 visitors on a regular basis. This is reason enough to get your booth there. SEPTEMBER 2023

IFA Berlin 2023: Berlin, Germany

September properly kicks off with IFA Berlin, which makes its way to Messe Berlin on September 1st and wraps up on September 5th. The trade show is a juggernaut in the consumer electronics industry. Why else would 238,000 trade visitors travel from a total of 130 countries to look at the assortment of products on display. And there’s so much to discover – data transmission, IoT and robotics to payment systems, VOD and audio tech.

DSEI 2023: London, UK

On September 12th - September 15th, DSEI 2023 is to deliver another in-depth presentation on the state of affairs, technological advancements and policies at in defence and security ExCeL London. The international trade show operates across all relevant sectors – Aerospace, Naval, Land, Security and Joint – and is actively making strides to incorporate the next generation of equipment and technology in warfare. You’ll find special zones like Future Tech (Cyber Security, Networks & Communications, AI, Digitalisation), Manufacturing (supply chain support), Medical (latest life-saving equipment) and Space (space and communications technology) hubs.

IBC 2023: Amsterdam, Netherlands

IBC is set to return to RAI Amsterdam between September 15th – September 18th. The go-to trade fair for the media and broadcasting industry has set its sight on beating last year’s performance. IBC 2022 registered over 1000 exhibitors and 37,071 trade visitors from 170 countries, which is a fantastic achievement for a trade fair during the on-going pandemic. These numbers only prove IBC is an industry leader and purchasing platform for streaming technologies, broadcasting and equipment.

IBC 2023 fully embraces its model as a hybrid event by providing participants with a great digital platform, streaming-ready content and networking tools. There’s so much going on. The Showcase Theatre hosts free sessions on new technologies, services and players. Plus, a schedule with lots of training sessions is available, free of charge.

OCTOBER

Anuga 2023: Cologne, Germany

Anuga 2023 concludes our list. The major food and beverage trade fair will be held on October 7th – October 11th. Koelnmesse is ready to welcome 4600 exhibitors and 70,000 trade visitors from 169 countries. Anuga continues to dominate the industry thanks to its sheer size and richness in its portfolio – Fine Food, Frozen Food, Meat, Chilled & Fresh Food, Dairy, Bread, Bakery, Drinks, Hot Beverages, Organic, Food Service and RetailTec. Naturally, this establishes the trade fair as a one-stop shop for major chain stores and retailers.

Every edition is awaited with great anticipation. In part this has to do with the show-stopping food programme. Many are eager to see the different food competitions take place and learn which chef will come on top. The live cooking stations and food tastings come with the territory and are fan favourites from the get-to. Last but not least, there’s the supporting programme of forums, lectures, discussions and presentations.
