With a 24% share of employment and approximately 500 companies, this area focuses on sustainable transportation solutions. Munich is at the forefront of developing and implementing green mobility technologies. Accounting for 19% of employment and around 2,500 companies, the energy efficiency submarket is crucial. The Munich Urban Colab, a hub for sustainable start-ups, plays a vital role in fostering innovation. Between 2013 and 2022, around 980 start-ups were founded in the region, with 60% focusing on energy efficiency, environmentally friendly energy conversion, and sustainable transportation.
