Exhibitions in Munich, Germany for Food & Drink

Munich possesses one of Germany’s most active food and drinks sectors that’s marked by its stable and growing startup scene, which sees entrepreneurs test out fresh ideas with the goal to change the industry on its head. A systematic study conducted between 2017 and 2020 shed light on the dynamic growth of food start-ups in the metropolitan area. In 2017, a total of 51 food startups emerged. A subsequent survey in 2020 followed up on these companies and expanded its scope to startups founded from 2017 to 2019. The survey revealed that 61% of the original start-ups were still in operation, which demonstrated resilience. The study uncovered a notable shift in the business concepts of startups founded between 2017 and 2019. Digital services stood front and center, which reflected an industry-wide trend towards digitalization. Furthermore, the food production witnessed an upsurge in plant-based substitutes, fermented foods and products boasting sustainability claims. This shift in the food products being made aligns with the changes in consumer preferences towards eco-friendly and health-conscious choices. Health, a pivotal focus in the earlier period of 2014-2016, remained crucial to the ethos of these startups. The convergence of health and sustainability gained momentum and resulted in the creation of novel and socially responsible food and beverage offerings. In tandem with the burgeoning start-up scene, Munich continues to solidify its position as a global hub for the drinks and liquid food industry thanks to drіnktес.
