Germany’s robust food and drinks industry is well regarded as an attractive market for big foreign investment due to its diversity and solid reputation. Even amidst market crises, Germany has more than demonstrated its resilience and attractiveness to international players to establish a presence, and we’re talking major global players, who recognize and invest in the nation’s sector. One of the best examples to fall into this category are Red Bull and Rauch, who decided to come together in a strategic move to rescue Brandenburger Urstromquelle in Baruth from closure. Their decision has resulted in the preservation of around 300 jobs in the region. The agreement with Altmühltaler Mineralbrunnen secures the future of the production plant, countering previous plans of closure. Brandenburg’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Prof. Dr.–Ing. Jörg Steinbach, hails this alliance as a ‘strong settlement success’ that reinforces Austria’s position among the top three international investor countries in the federal state. A French investor sets sights on revitalizing the former site of an insolvent mineral water producer in Jessen, Saxony-Anhalt. The company aims to establish a cutting-edge production facility that will include two bottling lines producing 400 million bottles of Jessen mineral water annually. Up to EUR 50 million have been earmarked to realize this ambitious plan, which investors expect to generate approximately 60 new jobs. Multisector catering specialist Newrest is set to invest EU 10 million in establishing in-flight catering units in Berlin and Frankfurt. Securing partnerships with major airlines, including EasyJet, China Airlines, Air Astana, LATAM Chile Airlines and Egypt Air, Newrest is gearing up for expansion into the German market. Further plans include the establishment of additional in-flight catering units in Munich and Hamburg in 2023. Germany Trade & Invest has played a pivotal role in supporting Newrest’s German market expansion.
