Exhibitions in Munich, Germany for Electric & Electronics

SGS, a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification services, has significantly bolstered its presence in the Munich electronics industry with the relocation as well as the expansion of its electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing facility. The new facility in Puchheim boasts a 6,300 square meters, which offers a substantial increase in testing and certification capabilities. This expansion caters to a wider range of sectors, including automotive and e-mobility, machinery, lighting, medical devices, and consumer electronics. The new facility is meticulously designed to accommodate a diverse range of testing needs. The centerpiece is a massive 10-meter EMC chamber equipped with a 6-meter diameter turntable, which can handle everything from small components to behemoth systems, with a dynamic load capacity of 10 tons and a static capacity of 35 tons. Additionally, a dedicated heavy-duty test area caters to vehicles and large-scale equipment. Beyond the main chamber, the facility has two specialized 5-meter absorber chambers. These exceed the standard size, allowing for the testing of both current and next-generation mid-sized products. Notably, these chambers are perfect for evaluating complex high-voltage systems used in e-mobility applications. The Puchheim facility offers far more than just EMC testing. It houses dedicated laboratories for radio frequency (RF) testing, product safety assessments, and fire and flammability evaluations. This comprehensive suite of services caters to a broad spectrum of products, including lighting equipment, IT and audio-visual devices, laboratory tools, and even medical devices. The Puchheim laboratory holds official recognition from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) for EMC testing, which has significantly boosted the role of Munich’s electronics industry within the German market. Additionally, it also has accreditation from the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) for various testing areas. This expertise allows SGS to issue EMC certifications for markets like the US and South Korea.
