Advanced Engineering – Update

Advanced Engineering's 2023 edition will take place between the dates 01.11.2023 and 02.11.2023. The event will be held at the NEC Birmingham, which will not have rigorous Covid-19 prevention policies in place. This is because the United Kingdom has removed its pandemic-related restrictions, including the ones related to travelling to the country.

Advanced Engineering is the UK’s only dedicated composite materials, design and processing fair and as a result it’s the biggest in the territory and a major meeting point for industry professionals in Europe at large. You have the entire processing chain represented starting from raw materials and chemical going through composites design and simulation to tooling, ancillaries and assembly. Going further, Advanced Engineering is divided into thematic zones – Composites Engineering, Aero Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Performance Metals Engineering and Connected Manufacturing.

Advanced Engineering is an annual event, which arrives in Birmingham, UK late in the year. The international trade show is held typically in early November and programming spans two days in total. Halls 2, 3 & 3a at the National Exhibition Centre (The NEC) are in use and the show is put together by easyFairs UK Ltd. The event is open only to trade visitors and working hours are from 09:00 am in the morning until 17:00 pm in the afternoon on the first day. The second day wraps up an hour early at 16:00 pm. Let’s talk transportation. The NEC has been built with easy access in mind, which is why it’s neighboring the Birmingham International Railway Station. Naturally, this means there are regular bus lines servicing the exhibition grounds. An added bonus is the air-rail link connecting the NEC to Birmingham Airport.

What Are People Saying?

  • “If you are in any way involved or interested in technology then this should be a beacon for you to attend next year, it’s truly a fantastic show,” - Steve Mason, CEO, Red Maple Technologies;
  • “AE Connect was extremely helpful to NQA at the event. It gave us the ability to reach out to potential future clients and set up face to face sessions in advance of the event where both sides could ask questions and see if there was a fit to do business in the future,” - Simon Newell, Business Development Manager, NQA Certification Ltd;
  • “This service works really well to allow me to find contacts, but also allow alternative companies to contact me. I have had very successful contacts as a result,” - Sam Kite, Structural Engineer, McLaren Automotive;
  • “We had great success and we really found that the people coming to these shows were advanced thinking manufacturers,” - Dolores Sanders, Co-Founder and Strategic Director, Total Control Pro

Audience & Statistics

Advanced Engineering maintains an excellent track record, when it comes to attendance rates and the trade show even registered an increase in both visitors and exhibitors. There were more than 550 international exhibitors showcasing their products to an audience of 15,000 professionals and counting. Part of the reason why this has happened is the introduction of a new thematic zone – the Medical Device Engineering zone. Trade visitors came from a variety of backgrounds ranging from manufacturing and performance metals to avionics and composites. Companies in attendance include Airbus Defence and Space, Moog Aircraft Group, Rolls-Royce plc, Jaguar Land Rover, Tata Motors and Bentley Motors Ltd among many others. As you can see, there are buyers of the highest calibre in presence and exhibitors are in the perfect position to return home with generous contracts. Among the official partners for Advanced Engineering are ADS, Composites UK, Rail Alliance, AESIN, Gambica and Catapult.
