The heating industry is amidst its own technological revolution as breakthrough innovations are actively changing how we experience indoor climates. Precision Indoor Climate Control (PICC) systems are the star players that are changing the scene in a massive way as they leverage digital tools and smart technologies to give consumers fine control over their environment. Temperature discrepancies and limited customization options can hinder occupant well-being and productivity. PICC systems use advanced sensing, data analytics and algorithms to overcome these issues. These systems monitor and adjust temperature, humidity and airflow parameters in real-time so that you can exert personalized climate control at a zone or an individual level in a building. By adapting to occupancy changes, weather conditions and building usage patterns, PICC systems deliver consistent comfort, optimize energy efficiency and reduce operating costs. HVAC systems that utilize PICC solutions are revolutionizing indoor environments. UK-based startup Virens has burst onto the scene with its own data-driven property management solution. Using radar motion sensors, Virens captures user activity and occupancy in a building and then optimizes HVAC system performance based on real-time occupancy data. This privacy-focused alternative to image-based CCTVs also exerts a positive impact on the environment as they consume a lot less energy and move buildings closer to the net-zero goal. Virens’ innovation automates climate control without sacrificing user privacy – all the while creating new horizons for energy-conscious building management. Another newcomer to change heating and HVAC in general is the Australian startup Steribright, which sets the creation of healthier indoor spaces as its mission. Their autonomous disinfection technology combines advanced sensors, UV-C and HEPA/MERV filters to provide on-demand surface and aerosol disinfection. Real-time environmental data, captured through IoT devices and stored on a cloud platform, informs building owners about air quality and occupancy. Steribright’s solution is a pivotal step towards maintaining healthy indoor environments.
