BI-MU & COVID

It’s all smooth sailing for BI-MU 2022. The major machine tools and metalworking event couldn’t be stopped during the initial stages of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, and it won’t be stopped now. The 2022 live editions will be held at the fieramilano Rho on October 12th – October 15th. For many trade visitors and the organisers, BI-MU 2022 will represent the restart of the industry in a meaningful way. The enthusiasm proves how essential trade fairs and exhibitions are for the success of exhibitors and buyers alike. The fieramilano Rho will follow strict guidelines to protect visitors’ health and wellbeing. The COVID-19 protective measures will include masking, social distancing and crowd control.

Introduction

Held for the first time in 1958, BI-MU has a rich history supporting the Italian metalworking and machine tools industry. Over the years, the international trade fair has become a global platform for cross-border procurement. This process coincided with the growth of Italy as a crucial market. Now BI-MU embraces all manners of groundbreaking technology and is often where innovations are presented for the very first time. The show floors are divided in 5 exhibition zones - BI-MU Digital, RobotHeart, piùAdditive, Metrology & Testing, and BI-MU Logistics.

Logistics

BI-MU is brought to exhibitors by EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE every two years in October in Milan, Italy. The trade fair is held at the fieramilano Rho and is heavily promoted by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE. Currently, BI-MU will be co-held alongside XYLEXPO for its four-day run. Admission is given to trade visitors and work hours are set for 09:30 in the morning until 18:00 in the afternoon. Now let’s discuss how to commute to fieramilano Rho, which has an excellent location and public transport service. It’s fairly easy to grab any kind of transport from Milan city and get there in no time. There are also regular railway connections from the two airports closest to fieramilano Rho – Linate and Malpensa. The fastest way to commute is to use the M1 Line of the metro, which stops directly by the “Porta Est” Entrance.

What Are People Saying?

• “After all, as usual and in particular in periods of uncertainty, trade fairs are essential for our promotion and we are sure that the next edition of BI-MU will offer us many benefits. We are ready to meet the visitors of the trade show and exchange views with them in person again,” – Giuseppe Bucci, Export Sales Department, ROSA

• “We are confident that we will establish many new contacts at 33.BI-MU. We expect a large attendance of visitors, as well of exhibiting companies. The trade show will be an unmissable event and a valuable opportunity to have a finger on the pulse of the market,” – Paolo Casazza, Managing Director, HURCO ITALIA

• “The trade show will take place in a moment of big relaunch for the market and the Italian manufacturers attending 33.BI-MU will be able to take advantage of this. We also are confident about the future: we are experiencing a lot of “effervescence” in Europe, in North America, in some countries of Central and Southern America,” – Christian Colombo, Ceo, FICEP

Audience & Statistics

BI-MU has proven why it’s one of the leaders in machine tools, automation and robotics not just in Italy, but in the entire world. The international trade fair ran during 2020 and even with major restrictions in travel managed to hold over 350 exhibitors and 9000 trade visitors. Many were also foreign nationals. Since BI-MU will be co-held with XYLEXPO, organisers are expecting for the audience to reach 100,000 trade visitors, if not more. This further shows how potent the event is for new business connections and sales leads. Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden, India, South Korea and China are some of the countries, which have solid numbers of visitors. Because metal cutting, metal working, machine tools and robotics have wide industrial applications, visitors come from a variety of professional backgrounds - IoT, electronics, IT & consulting; industrial machinery; aerospace & aircraft; chemical, pharma & medical; food & packaging; energy; design and luxury.
